the poorly understood and lifelong illness that became increasingly worrisome over the last seven years, and critical over the last four.
the dissolution of a marriage.
the loss of a home.
the state of dependence, currently unavoidable, to which others respond with fear, abandonment, neglect, disregard, hostility, anger, abuse, and control.
the depths of financial peril.
the indefinite relinquishment of a professional and personal vocation, a life's work.
contentment comes when the suffering that restricts and limits, that steals and takes away, asks us to surrender freely the attachments that remain: we reduce until there is only Essence, only Joy.
